COVERAGE FOR CHAMPNEYS
MORE THAN HALF OF WOMEN PREFER THEIR BEST FRIEND TO THEIR HUSBAND, ACCORDING TO RESEARCH
- A new study has highlighted the importance of good friendship
A happy, loving and secure relationship with a spouse can be an incredible thing, but – perhaps surprisingly – it seems for many women, the marital relationship doesn’t quite match up to a strong bond with a best friend.
A new survey by Champneys health spa suggests that many women prefer their best friends to their own husbands.
The survey asked 1,517 women in the UK who they were closer to and just over 50% said it was their best friend, rather than the person they married.
The research went on to elaborate on why the women feel that way, with 57% saying they can talk about anything and everything with their best friend and 44% saying “I can tell her things I could not tell my partner”.
A third of the women polled would rather have a brunch washed down with alcohol with friends than their husband, while over half would rather have a pampering session with friends, too.
For dismayed husbands, the bad news doesn’t stop there. A substantial 60% of women asked said they have a better time if no men attend their social gatherings.
So, if this research is something to go by, it seems good friends are perhaps more important than loving spouses. Do you agree?
