COVERAGE FOR PREZZO
The celeb Brits would most like to be best friends with revealed
We’re desperate for them to be out bestie, apparently.
There are many famous faces, television personalities and comedic characters that we would love to call our friends. But who would you actually choose as your celebrity best friend?
Well, it turns out British people are endeared by funniness and a warm heart, as Dawn French has been voted the person we wish was our greatest chum.
In a poll of more than 2,000 people, participants were asked which celebrity they wished they were close with, and the actress, comedian and writer came out on top.
Best known for playing the loveable Geraldine Granger in The Vicar of Dibley, 10 percent of those surveyed would like to have Dawn as a bestie, with Hollywood heartthrob Tom Hardy coming in close second with nine percent (but we’re not sure if we’d be happy with just friends).
Showing how much we Brits love good humour, comedian Peter Kay came in third, with Dawn’s French and Saunders co-star Jennifer Saunders coming in ninth.
Miranda Hart, Joanna Lumley and Strictly Come Dancing star Stacey Dooley all made the top 20 list.
The survey also looked at the celebrities that we would not want to be friends with, and former Emmerdale star Roxanne Pallet topped the list as the nation’s bête noire.
Queen of pop Madonna, former Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson and Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan also made an appearance in the list of people we don’t want as a best friend.
The research was commissioned by Prezzo in an effort to get us to see our real best friends more, uncovering the reasons why we don’t see them as much as we can. More than a third of us wish we had regular catch ups with friends, with the average person only catching up with their best pal 11 times a year.
‘It’s great to see Dawn French is the person we would most want as our best friend, but the thing that struck us most about the findings is that we do not see our true best friends nearly enough,’ concluded a spokesperson for Prezzo.
