Brits abroad to die out as youngsters bin boozy holidays for sightseeing
THE sight of boozy Brits abroad is set to die out within a generation.
Millennials are swapping football strips and booze benders for sightseeing.
It means alcohol-fuelled sunshine trips will be a thing of the past, a new poll revealed.
Four in 10 Brits aged 23-28 said they would be ashamed to be seen as tourists overseas.
And one in seven revealed they would hide from British louts drinking too much, getting sunburned or wearing football shirts.
The poll of 2,000 people by TikTok found 29% swot up on local customs before jetting off.
And nearly a quarter – 24% – learned some of the native language before going abroad so that they could blend in with the locals.
TikTok’s Joanna Touqmatchi said: “Their parents’ generation went on holiday to relax and get some sun.
“However, this generation wants to immerse themselves in a different culture and experience things the way locals do.”
She added: “They don’t want a home away from home – they want to be travellers and not tourists.”
