NETFLIX & THRILL: From the Notebook to American Psycho, a survey reveals the best and worst movies to watch if want to get lucky
A NATIONWIDE survey has revealed the best and WORST movies to watch if want to get lucky, with Dirty Dancing revealed as the number one movie guaranteed to get UK couples hot under the collar.
At number two was James Cameron’s 1997 epic romance and disaster film, Titanic, starring Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio, with more than one in ten (13 percent) confessing they got intimate with a date after watching the movie.
The 1990 classic hit, Pretty Woman has also led to 12 percent of couples heading straight to the bedroom during the closing credits, according to the poll.
The Notebook (11 percent), Sex and the City (10 percent) and Harry Potter (9 percent) were also in the top ten movies most likely to lead to sex.
But the research also explored the films which have been the biggest passion killers for Brit couples, with the 2000 satirical psychological horror film, based on the Brett Eastern Ellis’s novel of the same name, American Psychotopping the list (19 percent).
The 1994 drama Shawshank Redemption, based on a Stephen King novella and starting Morgan Freeman came second (13 percent), and the 2006 rom com The Break-Up, starring Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughan as a warring couple, came third (11 percent).
Rosemary’s Baby (nine percent), Gone Girl (10 percent) and The Break-Up (12 percent) also made the list of passion-massacring movies.
The research, of 2,000 British film lovers, also uncovered the most romantic silver-screen couple with Jack and Rose from Titanic, played by Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio, winning the hearts of more than a fifth (22 percent) of the nation.
Dirty Dancing’s Baby and Johnny came second with 15 percent of the vote, followed by Ron and Hermione (15 percent) and Harry and Ginny (14 percent) from the Harry Potter series.
Bridget Jones and Mark Darcy, Sandy and Danny from Grease and Star Wars’ Princess Leia and Han Solo came joint fourth with 13 percent.
Two thirds of men admitted to wishing their love lives were like the movies, while 75 percent of women felt the same.
